Last week we organized a charity meal event for patients at Thanh Phu hospital
This is a small hospital, the nearest to the Island Villages (Xứ Cồn). Most poor people come here first because it’s closer to home and cheaper to commute.. Patients here are also given meals from time to time by other units. The patients and their caretakers are informed of the date and time of the Giving Meals Charity event a day in advance, so when our volunteers show up, people are already waiting. Most of them are the patients’ caretakers. For this particular event, we asked another charity group to help us execute because they do it twice a month, and very familiar with the protocol. They have about 20 volunteers, who are locals here. Together they went to the market, cooked, packed foods in boxes, took the meals to the hospital, and distributed them. They share the costs and labor between themselves and distribute meals twice a month for the needy. They were happy that we could help. We felt the current meal portion was a bit small, we asked these volunteers to buy some fruits and cake for desert. And most specially, we gave each person a bottle of medicated oil, a gift that all people of the countryside cherish. Below are pictures of the distribution. We also recorded a few videos from the moment the food was bought home from market to the time it was delivered to the patients. These videos will warm your hearts knowing that there are still many kind hearts out there, quietly doing whatever than can in their capacity to bring happiness to the lesser blessed.

Tuần vừa qua chúng tôi đã tổ chức một buổi phát cơm chay từ thiện ở bênh viện Thạnh Phú
Đây là một bệnh viện thuộc tầng lớp huyện nên vẫn còn rất nghèo. Bệnh nhân ở đây lâu lâu cũng được những đơn vị khác tặng cơm Họ được thông báo ngày và giờ phát một ngày trước, cho nên ai cũng biết, và vì thế cuộc phát cơm được diễn ra rất nhanh chóng. Chúng ta đã nhờ một nhóm từ thiện khác đứng ra làm dùm vì họ làm một tháng 2 lần nên rất là rành Họ có khoảng 20 người tình nguyện viên, là dân bản xứ ở đây. Họ chung tay nhau vừa đi chợ, nấu, pack vào hộp, chở lên bệnh viện, và đứng phát luôn. Chi phi bao nhiêu họ chia đều nhau cùng gánh trả, và hiện tại họ phát một tháng 2 lần. Họ rất hoan nghênh chúng ta góp bàn tay. Vì thấy phần ăn hơi ít, nên chúng ta đã nhờ các anh chị em thiện nguyện này mua thêm 1 cái bánh dừa, 1 trái chuối, và 1 cái bánh ngot. Và đặc biệt nhất là chúng ta có tặng thêm cho mỗi người 1 chai dầu xanh, là một món quà mà người dân vùng quê vô cùng trân quý. Dưới đây là hình ảnh cuộc phát cơm từ thiện và dầu xanh. Chúng tôi có quay vài video ghi lại quá trình từ lúc bắt đầu đi chợ mua đồ ăn về cho tới lúc phát xong. Các bạn xem xong sẽ thấy vô cùng cảm phục những thiện nguyện viên này, họ vừa góp của vừa góp công, thức khuya dậy sớm để đem đến những bửa cơm chay tình thương cho những đồng bào đang cần nó.
